Pâlore · Frozen Display
Standing, almost still, she still wears her plumage like a crown no one had the heart to take from her. A tear slides beneath her eye while another eye, painted on her chest, seems to keep watch in her place. Behind her, her train coils on the ground in feathers that no longer open for anyone but herself.
Specimen of the Pâlore species: peacocks with faded feathers, who still fan out from habit, before an audience that will never come again.
