Standing still, she lets her wings fall horizontally on either side of her body, like two panels slowly sliding downward. Ink streams over her entire silhouette, from beak to feet, in long trails that seem to dissolve her little by little. A tear beads beneath her eye, and her white hair flows straight down behind her to the ground, where it fades into the pool.

Specimen of the Attendrie species: cranes who watch a sky that no longer brings anyone back, standing on one leg out of habit, so as not to forget how to wait.
