Head tipped back, one arm stretched with all her strength toward a drop of ink falling unhurried, she seems suspended between two waters. Her fish tail coils in a spiral down to the ground, where a wide pale fin unfolds flat like one last fan, and her white hair floats freely around her.

Specimen of the Sourdine species: koi who glide soundlessly beneath water that no longer reflects anything, reaching a hand toward a light they never reach.
