Suspended, head low, she nearly disappears beneath a multitude of vines springing from her shoulders and cascading around her in wide curves, like roots searching for ground they'll never find. Her arms hang without strength, ink dripping from her fingertips, and her short white hair frames a lowered, almost erased face.

Specimen of the Abyssia species: octopuses who reach their arms toward a light that no longer reaches down to them, suspended between two waters, never rising back up.
